Monday 6th August 2007 |

:: Dewsbury Rams 10 - 36 Castleford Tigers |
Monday 30th July 2007 |
 | First things first. Best wishes to Sid Domic and his family. It was a bold move to bring him to The Tetley’s stadium, a move that deserved a better ending. The last I heard was that he’d broken a couple of ribs and will play no further part in our season.
And to get all the bad news out of the way up front, Mr. Dawber was our referee yesterday – let’s just say that, on his first half performance, we’ve had better. On the other hand we’ve also had worse, and he didn’t affect the final result a great deal. Cas were every bit as good as their league position suggested they would be. more |

:: Jason Southwell Calls Time On His Rugby Career |
Thursday 25th July 2007 |
 | Jason Southwell has made the decision to retire from rugby league after passing his exam to enter the police force.Jason struggled with injury for the first half of this season but worked hard in his recovery, playing a number of Academy matches in order to regain his fitness, and he had come back into the first team with a vengeance. He has done a great job for us during his time here and he will be sorely missed. The Club understands that Jason has got to think about himself and his future, and his chosen career path is with the police force rather than in the rugby league world. We would like to thank him for his time spent at Dewsbury Rams and we wish him all the best for his future career. |

:: Francis Maloney Leaving The Club |
Tuesday 24th July 2007 |
 | Francis Maloney has been released from Dewsbury Rams this week and is headed for our neighbours Batley Bulldogs. There has been no fallout between Francis and the Club but with our current crop of players there will be more opportunity for him next season at Batley than with ourselves. Francis will be starting a new job with Kirklees in September so he is also giving up his work as a Community Development Manager with us. We wish Francis all the best in his new career and for the future. |

:: Rams Sign Local Youngster Jake Wilson |
Friday 20th July 2007 |
 | Dewsbury Rams have continued with their policy of recruiting local young talent with the signing of Jake Wilson for the rest of this season and the whole of next season. The 18 year old has been playing in the Senior Academy this season where he has impressed enough to earn a first team contract. Playing last season for Thornhill Trojans Under 18's. he took a clean sweep of awards at the end of season presentation winning Player of the Year and Player's Player of the year. Rams' coach Andy Kelly claims Jake is one of the most promising young talents he has seen in a long time and he is confident that he has a big future in the game. Chairman Mark Sawyer has reassured fans that the policy of building a team consisting of mainly local players is of great importance for the long term interest of the club. |

:: Rochdale Hornets 12 - 36 Dewsbury Rams |
Friday 20th July 2007 |
 | Some interesting decisions on the team sheet this week. Chris Hall at full back, Sid Domic making his debut at centre, Pat Walker at stand off and Josh Weeden back at loose forward after his injury.
Given the importance of this game to both sides, it was important we got off to a good start, and we did. After being awarded an easy penalty after only 4 minutes, Rams elected to run the ball, and found space on the left for Dominic Maloney to charge over. Liam Finn added the conversion, 6 – 0 to The Rams. more |

:: Rams Secure Sid Domic Signing |
Thursday 12th July 2007 |
Dewsbury Rams have today secured the signing of 32 year old Australian centre Sid Domic for the remainder of the 2007 season, fighting off competition from a number of other clubs, including his former club Hull FC.
Domic’s hard running and vast experience will give the Rams a massive boost for the remaining matches and will reinforce the push for a position in the play-offs.
The club would particularly like to thank the SquadBuilder and it’s members, who have made this signing possible. Hopefully more spectators will be encouraged to join as they continue to see what SquadBuilder is achieving.
Sid is a well respected player within the sport. His professional career has seen him take to the field for Brisbane Broncos, London Broncos, Penrith Panthers, Warrington Wolves, Wakefield Widcats and most recently Hull FC, making 37 Super League appearances for them in the last two seasons. |

|
Friday
6th July 2007 |

Two things struck me about
last night’s game. Firstly, Widnes are a
class side and thoroughly deserved the win,
though possibly not by such a wide margin.
Second, the fans and the players weren’t as
subdued after the game as I’d expected. I
got the sense that the side was angry with
several aspects of their game, and rightly
so. But thoughts were already centred on the
trip to Rochdale. Someone described it as
‘our grand final’ and I wouldn’t argue with
that. Only I reckon that means we’ve five
‘grand finals’ to get something from this
season. Going to be an end of season to
match that of last year.

What a game!
Wrong result of course, at least it was from
my point of view, but this one had
everything that is good about Rugby League.
National League I’m talking about now.
Proper Rugby played by local rivals giving
their all.
It would be all too easy to look at the
scores and say that we lost this one in the
last ten minutes or so. Only I’m not sure
that we did. Actually I think we probably
lost this one in the first ten minutes. Or
to be more precise, Batley won it in the
first ten minutes.

What a difference a week can make. Seven days
ago I made the journey back from Cas in a gloomy
silence. Today there was a smile on my face and
a song in my heart – something about AK and his
barmy army if I remember it right.
Injury kept out Kevin Crouthers and Chris Hall,
though Ian Preece did play, despite the injury
to his foot picked up at Cas, and Pat Walker
played from the start at loose forward.

So now we know what it takes to
make a serious bid for Super League, sobering
thought ain’t it? ‘Classy Cas’ they called them
back when I was a lad, so not much has changed
there. It was always going to be hard; our only
chance to get anything out of this game was to
hold them in the early exchanges and take it
from there, only 3 minutes wasn’t really long
enough.
That’s the time it took for the Tigers to get on
the scoreboard. A grubber kick to the posts gave
McGoldrick the first try, Dixon’s conversion
making the score 0-6. From the restart, a
barnstorming run from winger Wainwright almost
led to a second try, and The Rams knew it was
going to be a long, hot afternoon. Though they
had their spells on attack, they never really
threatened the Tigers line in the first half.

:: Dewsbury Rams night out at the Black Bull |
|
Wednesday
23rd May 2007 |

|
Dewsbury Rams' night at the Black Bull on Monday
21st May was an entertaining and enjoyable
evening.
Irish band 'Red Clare' were performing
throughout the night and everyone seemed to be
enjoying the music.
The pool tournament lasted nearly all night
and was won by the Rams' own Daniel Hawkins &
Francis Maloney (though Francis didn't
contribute all that much to the win having only
1 shot in the semis and final!), he just enjoyed
the free beer we won!
The highlights of the night were Viv & Angie
beating Rob Kelly & Luke Haigh at pool, Francis
Maloney singing 'The Fields of Athenry', and
Harry Child's solo performance at the end of the
night was a belter!

:: Flying winger latest addition to Rams squad |
Friday 4th May 2007 |
 | Following several weeks of negotiations the Rams have managed to fight off fierce competition to secure the signing of winger Austin Buchanan from Super League side Wakefield Wildcats. Thanks to the club's SquadBuilder fund, the Directors, and considerable support from Wakefield Wildcats, we have managed to raise a substantial sum to enable Austin to make the short journey from Wakefield to Dewsbury. Rams Chairman Mark Sawyer said: "The negotiations have kept a low profile in recent weeks due to the amount of competition from other clubs. This is a terrific signing for us and the fact that we have managed to attract a player of Austin's calibre shows that the hard work turning the club around over the last few years has paid off. We are extremely grateful to the SquadBuilder fund and all it's members, without them this would not have been possible." Austin is a pacy winger with great try scoring ability and is more than a handful for any defence. He is expected to make his debut for the Rams this Sunday against Rochdale Hornets. |

Monday 30th April

'A game of

example. It started badly for the Rams, a
crossfield kick standing up perfectly for
centre Sherriffe to pluck out of the air and
fall over the line. Four minutes gone and
the Rams were already behind, though Lakers
lead lasted only five minutes. Chris Hall's
break was driven on by Keegan Hirst before
Josh went over from acting half back.

in front at 6 - 4.
